This page explains how to delete your ReWave account and the data associated with it, or how to request deletion of specific data only without deleting your whole account.
ReWave is the mobile application operated by us (the "Company"). Deleting your Account removes your Personal Data from the Service as described below. If you only want to remove certain content, see Delete specific data without deleting your account.
Delete your account in the app
This is the fastest way to delete your ReWave account. If you still have the app installed, follow these steps:
- Open the ReWave app.
- Go to your groups overview, "Meine Gruppen" (My Groups).
- Open the settings screen, "Einstellungen" (Settings), via the settings icon.
- Tap "Profil löschen" (Delete profile).
- Confirm when the app asks you to.
Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. Once confirmed, your account and the data listed under What is deleted and what we keep are removed immediately and cannot be restored.
Request deletion without the app
If you no longer have ReWave installed, you can still request deletion of your account by email:
- Send an email to support@rewave.social.
- Use the subject line "Delete my account".
- Send it from the Google account email address you used to sign in to ReWave.
We verify the request via that email address — this is how we confirm the request really comes from the account owner. We complete the deletion within 30 days of receiving a verified request.
Delete specific data without deleting your account
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove your data.
Directly in the app
You can remove your profile photo at any time in the app, under your profile settings.
By email
Other content — such as your answers or your chat messages — cannot currently be deleted individually from within the app. To have any of it removed, email support@rewave.social and tell us exactly what you would like removed. Your account stays active — only the data you specify is deleted. We verify the request via the email address linked to your account and process it within 30 days.
What is deleted and what we keep
When your ReWave account is deleted, the following applies to your Personal Data:
Deleted permanently
- Your account and profile (name, profile photo, email address)
- Your group memberships
- Your answers — in both private groups and public groups
- Questions you created
- Your public group subscriptions
- Photos you uploaded
- Your push notification tokens
- Any moderation records about your content
Anonymized, not deleted
- Your chat messages. The message text stays, so that group conversations remain readable for the people you were talking to. But the message is detached from you: your name, photo and account link are removed, and it is shown only as "Gelöschtes Mitglied" (deleted member). It can no longer be traced back to you.
Retained
- Only data we are required to keep to comply with legal obligations — retained for as long as the law requires, and deleted afterwards.
- We do not keep long-term backups or archives of your data. Deletion takes effect immediately and is not recoverable — there is no backup from which your account could be restored.
